A-lab (Arkitekturlaboratoriet) was started in 2000 and now has over 100 dedicated employees. In 2014 the practice left the DARK Group and is today an internationally oriented architectural firm that works to influence site development through innovative and sustainable architecture, as well as to add a strong uniqueness and identity to each and every project.

The expertise is complex: from design architects to experts in sustainable urban densification, technology and project management. Teams at A-lab usually work interdisciplinary with external resource persons and the office is often used as a reference in sustainable urban and local development, iconic architecture and interdisciplinary BIM design.

The office is known for having completed two of Norway's largest construction projects simultaneously - the Statoil building at Fornebu and Barcode in Bjørvika (together with, among others, A-Lab & MRDV)
The Challenge
A-lab used a legacy Visma system which was getting in the way as it was not optimal as their project management, resource planning, time and invoicing management system. In 2017 they decided to look for a modern system that could be adapted to the needs of their practice that have very different workflows. teams at A-lab work on projects across several disciplines. The company also collaborates closely together with external partner companies and share resources across multiple companies on individual projects.

A-lab was looking for system that supported their specific needs concerning Project Management, Resource Planning and Operational Workflow. The Administration and Finance teams had also a requirement for such system to provide good integrations with external systems. Flexible and customizable reporting and adaptability according to the specific user needs and easiness of use were marked as key areas the news system should support.
The Solution
A-lab chose Moment because the system is made for architects and ticked all the boxes regarding their needs for projects management, resource sharing and integrations. Import of previous project data into Moment was also a key factor when deciding to go make the switch to Moment in 2018.

Moment is currently used for timekeeping by all teams in A-lab and all projects are managed and invoiced through the system.

Users find the solution user-friendly and have their needs covered in a good way when it comes to project management, resource planning and time tracking, hour registration and reporting.
